Brasserie Margaux – A Cozy Classic Restaurant

On the fourth avenue corridor of remarkable restaurants and smack dab in the middle of some of Seattle’s most famous sits a charming jewel, Brasserie Margaux. The image its name conjures up is exactly what you encounter when you enter the swanky eatery adjacent to the Warwick Seattle Hotel: cozy, classic, elegant and romantic décor with savory smells wafting through, making your mouth water and your stomach rumble.

Chef Michael White is no stranger to the Seattle restaurant scene, feeding his art for the past 30 years to patrons at some of the best and finest in the city and on the Eastside.  Brought on to redefine the menu at the 9-year-old establishment, he has accomplished reviving the Brasserie Margaux to a level playing field with the dozens of outstanding eateries in the Belltown neighborhood. 

Chef White has created a beautiful marriage of traditional Northwest ingredients and French comfort food, at reasonable prices. Start your day with eggs benedict or the Pike Place smoked salmon plate served with an egg, capers, cream cheese and a bagel. 

For those who want to sleep in on the weekend, brunch is served Saturday and Sunday. The food is a la carte and expands on the breakfast menu. Try the La Salente omelet, a perfect meld of spinach, artichoke hearts and goat cheese placed between the more heart healthy egg whites.

Lunch is served weekdays and has a wide variety of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees. You just might want to order a little (OK, BIG!) sandwich that is not on the menu, the OMG! Cheese Sandwich. The perfect amount of goat cheese, blue cheese and cheddar cheese is melted between the first layer of Rosemary bread, with the bottom layer consisting of turkey, tomatoes and avocado.  It is a plate of heaven with a side of fries.

Two of my favorite words are Happy Hour and Brasserie Margaux did not let me down.  I’m giving you another not on the menu choice: the Margaux-rita. The traditional sweet and sour in the Margarita is replaced with wine. Enjoy it with one of their many bar and tapas menu items like the Duck Nachos or sliders with a French onion soup or Caesar salad.  Hungry yet?  -By Jacqulyn Diteman
