Get Face to Face With Wild Life

Olympic Game Farm near Sequim is on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. The 3 hour trip from Seattle is scenic and beautiful. We were lucky because the wildflowers were spectacular. Wild lavender was just starting to turn pink, white daisies covered the roadsides and fields and dark red poppies were sharing fields with wild roses. Summer is a magic time to be driving on the peninsula but year round the winding roads and forests make this a great adventure.

We drove north from Seattle and caught the Edmonds/Kingston ferry to the peninsula. From the ferry landing in Kingston you drive across the floating Hood Canal Bridge and head west along the Straits of Juan De Fuca where you catch glimpses of beautiful beaches and go through quaint historic towns. Look carefully because the signs to the Olympic Game Farm are a bit hard to see.

The Olympic Game Farm is the place to get face to face and experience wildlife at close range.  They have a year round driving tour that takes you past fields filled with deer, zebra, buffalo and many other wildlife that you just never get a chance to see so close. I got elk slobber on my car window because one thought that I might have a tasty treat to share.

When you come in the main gate you can purchase bread to hand feed friendly llamas, performing bears, grazing elk, and buffalo all from your car. You will also see many animals which are on the endangered species list, such as timber wolves, Bengal tigers, and African lions.  In addition to the endangered species, they  are home to coyote, bobcats, cougars, and many more species. We watched baby wolfs romping with each other in one of the outdoor enclosures while a bear cub played in a swimming pool next door. So amazing and so cute.

The Olympic Game Farm is supported completely by tourism dollars and other donations.  Get out and take a drive and be rewarded with great photos and wonderful memories of this unique attraction.
