Art Inspired Island Getaway
You don’t need an excuse to go to the San Juan Islands next weekend, but here is a GREAT one anyway:
San Juan Island Artists’ Studio Tour
The 21st Annual San Juan Island Artists’ Studio Tour celebrates where local art is created — in personal studios and workshops down hidden driveways sprinkled around the island. Come enjoy this free, self-guided tour featuring 20 artists’ studios, plus 30 guest artists, sharing their prints, paintings, ceramics, jewelry, photography, sculpture and fiber. Gain a greater knowledge and clearer understanding of the artists and their media. Purchase art at the source, often before it is shown in national art shows and galleries. Enjoy art, local musicians and lovely gardens. In appreciation of continued support each year, the studio artists are donating work to be given as door prizes. Attendees of the tour may put their name in the drawing at each studio they visit. Maps and brochures are available at many businesses in Friday Harbor.

Dona Reed creates limited-edition, hand-pulled relief prints as well as vessels and lamps made from gourds.
Now that you’re considering going, enhance the experience with wine or adventure!
Use your Seattle TourSaver deal book to hop aboard San Juan transit with 2-for-1 day passes and head a short distance to San Juan Vinyards for complimentary wine tasting! Browse through the gifts, taste the wines at the tasting bar and enjoy the sunny deck, while sipping a glass of San Juan Vineyard’s award winning wines.
Or if you’re feeling more adventurous, how about sea kayaking in Friday Harbor with San Juan Outfitters?! Enjoy some of the most spectacular scenery in the Pacific Northwest. Observe bald eagles, seals, porpoise, otter, great blue heron, seabirds, sea stars, kelp forests, wild mink and more. Sea kayaking, ocean kayaking or just plain kayaking. Whatever you call it, even if you say if backwards, kayak = fun. This 3 hour kayak will give you plenty of time to grab some lunch and get your art on.
Still don’t have Seattle TourSaver? Pick one up on Pier 56 on your way out of town and have a great weekend!
