Tasting Flight” A Wine Tasting Fundraiser at the Zoo

If you missed your chance in June to experience 30 of the Northwest’s finest boutique wines on Woodland Park Zoo’s picturesque North Meadow, don’t worry.  You get a second chance. This is an after-hours, adults-only fundraiser event for Woodland Park Zoo because adults love the zoo too!  Seattle is proud to have a zoo that is a leader in it’s field for sustainability and conservation.  As part of Woodland Park Zoo’s commitment to sustainability including waste reduction, they strongly encourage people to bring their own glass to create a green event in the spirit of the zoo’s conservation mission.  Yes, compostable cups are available for $1 at the event if you forget your goblet.

Bottles will also be available for purchase (tax free) to take home or to enjoy on the zoo’s North Meadow during the event.  Many of these wines are not available in local stores so secure your favorites early. A portion of every bottle sold helps raise money for the zoo.  Some food will be available for purchase from Lancer Catering and you can bring your own picnic as well. Concessions will consist of picnic fare, snacks, sweet treats and non-alcoholic beverages.

Legally you must stay within the event perimeter (North Meadow, Penguins, Northern Trail) with wine during event hours. Wine is limited to the North Meadow from 6:00pm-7:00pm while general zoo guests are being cleared from zoo grounds, but you may visit the exhibits with your wine from 7:00pm-9:00pm.  There will be zoo discovery stations and Real Close animal encounters on the North Meadow. You may also visit the award-winning Northern Trail and penguin exhibits starting at 7:00pm.  So you can raise your glass and toast the animals you’re helping out by buying that bottle of wine or three.
