Eat. Drink. Be Inspired...

Savor Seattle Food Tours
That's the mantra over at "Savor Seattle Food Tours", run by Angela Shen. She offers a great walking tour of the Pike Place Market, with stops for coffee, donuts, fresh produce, fresh spices, fresh fish: fresh fresh fresh! It's for the "foodie" who wants to learn more about what Seattle has to offer. The first stop, at Seattle Coffee Works (111 Pike Street) offers an in-depth explanation of why you need to have an expensive grinder to get the beans crushed "just right". But wow! What a great cup of coffee. Next, a stop at "Daily Dozen" donuts. Oh--forget about your diet. Angela has a pink umbrella that she'll WHACK you with if you try and "pace" yourself or defer the fatty, sugary stuff. Give it up. Now. HA!

After the donut stop, head across the hall in the market to "MarketSpice", which has been at the market since 1911. Heavens, they have some delightful rubs, spices, salts and teas. The MarketSpice tea is a world-wide favorite.

Stop at Pike Place Fish for a taste of smoked and peppered (YUM!) salmon. But you'll learn oh-so-much more about your life, our world and the universe when Angela and the Fishmongers start talking about what's MOST important. Listen up!

Wander past the big pig, where you can drop some of your spare change. Stop in at Frank's Quality Produce. Oh, I should have GRABBED some of that asparagus. Next, it's the "Confectional" for some wicked cheesecake. Then "Chukar Cherries". Beecher's Handmade Cheese is a must-see. The folks on our tour loved "Piroshky-Piroshky", a special Russian pastry shop. Hidden secrets here...be sure and listen up. Dessert is at "Etta's", followed by a sit-down wine tasting at the Tasting Room/Wines of Washington. OMG. I'm getting hungry just sharing with you.

Angela's tour is delightful. At every stop along the way, you get deep insight into the "how" and the "why" about the particular specialty items. Some stores offer catalogs. All offer a special FOA (Friend of Angela) 10 percent discount. So--follow Angela's advice: Eat. Drink. Be Inspired.
