Why not eat steak & seafood?

Why not eat steak & seafood?

Daniel’s Broiler is one of the finest steakhouses in the area. We had a special occasion and for us it called for steak and seafood. We were on the eastside in Bellevue and we wanted a view so voila, this was our choice.

We had a stunning view even though the weather wasn’t cooperating. Liquid sunshine! Our table looked west over downtown Bellevue, Lake Washington and could we could see the skyscrapers in Seattle. If it had been a clear day you would have also been able to see the Cascade Mountains.

The service was outstanding with attention to every detail. Good service to me means an unrushed experience. Somehow our water glasses filled as if by magic, our salad plates were removed in time for the next course, the wine suggestions made sense with the meals and our waiter was attentive with out being pushy.

My husband ordered an end cut of prime rib which was perfection. Our friend ordered scallops and again they were soft, buttery and perfectly done. I ordered halibut steak and it came from a huge fish because my portion was more that I could eat and I could can tell that it was so fresh.

If you are in the market for a fantastic meal or just a great happy hour, spend an evening and go to Daniel’s Broiler.

Fishermen’s Terminal

Fishermen’s Terminal

In the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle, along the ship canal is the historic Fishermen’s Terminal. This is one of Seattle’s hidden treasures. Home to many of the North Pacific Fishing Fleet; you can wander along many of the piers and see hundreds of these working boats when they are being wintered before their next fishing season. In the background you will see views of the breathtaking Olympic Mountains.

Fishermen’s Terminal is home to the Fishermen’s Memorial, a beautiful sculpture commemorating local fishermen and women lost at sea. This very moving tribute has plaques inscribed with the names of more than 500 local commercial fishermen who died pursuing their livelihood. The daily risks these fishermen take has been documented by the popular Discovery Channel’s TV show, Americas Deadliest Catch. Commercial fishing has played an important part of Seattle’s economy since its very beginning.

Fisherman’s Terminal is also home to great restaurants such as Chinooks and The Bay Café, so you can make a great morning or afternoon at this location. Wild Salmon Fish Market, one of the best fish and shellfish markets is right in the terminal where you will find the freshest fish anywhere in Seattle and they will ship anywhere is the US.

Georgetown-Seattle

Georgetown-Seattle

Located 5 miles south of downtown Seattle, Georgetown is Seattle’s oldest residential neighborhood.  This area has a growing retail district and  a thriving creative community. Georgetown is considered by its residents to be the last bastion of a cohesive creative community in the city. Visitors have the opportunity to shop and dine in over 20+ galleries, studios, boutiques and cafes mostly along Airport Way.

Among some of the highlights we found on our visit to Georgetown were a great Café bar called Calamity Jane’s where we had a delicious late lunch and then we were off for more shopping. One of our favorite finds was Great Stuff which has a collection of the most unusual things from industrial artifacts to modern kitsch. We stopped into Fantagraphics Bookstore and Gallery where they had a whole room with just comics. Spend an afternoon visiting this unique, historic and artistic neighborhood
