Seattle Theater Group presents Sarah McLachlan and Friends on Friday, February 4 at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre. The show will consist of two sets: one with Sarah sitting in on songs by her guest performers, and a second set of Sarah’s greatest hits and new favorites from her recently released and critically-acclaimed album, LAWS OF ILLUSION. Beethoven’s 9th – Let it Ring!

Music Director Gerard Schwarz, Seattle Symphony and Seattle Symphony Chorale celebrate the New Year with performances of Beethoven’s legendary Symphony No. 9. Tickets are available online from $25 to $121. Featured soloists include soprano Marcy Stonikas, mezzo-soprano Nancy Maultsby, tenor Vinson Cole and bass-baritone Clayton Brainerd. The program also includes Richard Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll and two works by American composer Bright Sheng: Prelude to Black Swan, one of the 18 Gund/Simonyi Farewell Commissions receiving world premieres this season, and Black Swan, which Sheng composed in 2006. Performances will take place in the S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium at Benaroya Hall.

One World Taiko is a professional Japanese drum ensemble that incorporates dynamic movement, lyrical melodies and rhythmic grooves with heart pounding percussion. The group will perform today at the Experience Music Project. Admission is FREE!

On Thursday September 23rd,  you have an opportunity to ride on the last of the Seattle’s Misquito Fleet’s Virginia V and enjoy the September Full Moon on a Jazz Cruise with live music by vibraphonist Susan Pascal Quartet. Light hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be provided and there is a cash bar.

The Virginia V departs from the Historic Ships Wharf in Lake Union Park, 860 Terry Ave N., for a cruise around Lake Union and Lake Washington.

The Virginia V was built right in the Seattle area in 1921 and built of local old-growth fir logs. On June 11, 1922, the Virginia V made her maiden voyage from Elliott Bay in Seattle to Tacoma down the West Pass. She continued to make this voyage nearly every day until 1938.

In 2002 the Virginia Foundation put the Virginia V back on the water after a 6 year, $6.5 million dollar restoration project.

Vessel Facts:

Length: 125 feet (38 m) on deck, Beam: 24 feet (7.3 m), Draft: 8 feet (2.4 m), Displacement: Approximately 150 tons. This beautiful ship is on view at the South Lake Union Park.
